A doctorate is the highest educational achievement that you can earn and there is much respect associated with having those letters behind your name. Only one out of a hundred people have a doctorate, so that reverence is certainly due. Also, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, someone with a doctorate degree earns one to two million dollars in lifetime earnings more than someone with a master’s degree. With numbers like that, what are you waiting for?

Ph.D. or Doctorate?

It seems that there is some confusion when it comes to the difference between a doctorate and a Ph.D., or Doctor of Philosophy. Actually, a Ph.D. is one of several doctorate degrees that you can earn. Doctorate degrees can be broken down into two types: professional doctorates and research doctorates.

People who earn professional doctorates apply their degree to a specific profession, as opposed to an academic field of study. These include M.D. (Doctor of Medicine), J.D. (Juris Doctor), DMD (Doctor of Dental Medicine), and PharmD (Doctor of Pharmacy) among many others.

Research doctorates include the Ph.D. and are often focused on a particular subject. Here is a breakdown of some of the more popular doctorates available in the United States:

  • Ph.D. or Doctor of Philosophy: This degree is normally earned by those who want to go into research or Academia. There are many fields in which you can earn a Ph.D. including history, mathematics, and chemistry.

  • Psy.D. or Doctor of Psychology: If you want to be a psychologist, than you can either earn a Ph.D. in psychology or this degree.

  • DBA or Doctor of Business Administration: This degree is for people who are interested in the theory of management. Those who earn this degree normally go into research or teach on a college level.

  • Ed.D. or Doctor of Education: If you are looking to become a school administrator than this degree is for you.

  • D.A. or Doctorate of Arts: This degree emerged in the 1960s and is offered in many of the same subjects as a Ph.D, particularly arts and humanities. It is often labeled the “teaching doctorate.”

What does a doctorate entail?

Most doctorates require that you have a master’s degree in a related field of study. Once you are accepted you begin with a rigorous course of study, especially for the professional degrees such as M.D. or J.D. The professional degrees are normally followed by an exam, such as the bar examination, and/or an internship, such as a residency. With Ph.Ds and other research doctorates, courses are normally followed by an exam and then the writing of a thesis or dissertation. These dissertations can be anywhere from 50 to 450 pages in length and commonly focus on a particular area of expertise. For example, someone pursuing a doctorate in U.S. Economic History might write a dissertation on the effects of Soviet Union socialism on U.S. economic policies during the Great Depression. According to the U.S. Department of Education, the average time it takes a student to earn their doctorate is seven years. However, there are some accelerated programs out there and a lot depends on how long it takes you to write your dissertation.

Online Study is a Great Option

If you are interested in a doctorate degree, do not rule out online colleges. Three of the five most popular doctorate degrees (according to the Department of Education) are available through online study; these are Doctor of Psychology, Doctor of Engineering and Doctor of Education. Online learning is an extremely convenient way to learn. The courses are offered in a format that works around your schedule. This is perfect for people who have a career that they do not want to take time off from, or if they have a family. In fact, online doctorates are so flexible that there really is no reason not to finally reach this highest level of achievement.  Get the proper pre-enrollment docs now via AACSB Online MBA, Accelerated College Degree Online or Regionally Accredited Online Colleges.

Photovoltaic cells—those black squares an array of which comprises home solar power kits—are getting more efficient, and gradually less expensive, all the time, thanks to ever-better designs which all them to focus the gathered sunlight on a more and more concentrated point. The size of the cells is decreasing as their efficiency rises, meaning that each cell becomes cheaper to produce and at once more productive. As far as the aforementioned cost, the price of producing solar-generated energy per watt hour has come down to $4.00 at the time of this writing. Just 17 years ago, it was nearly double that cost.

Solar powered electricity generation is certainly good for the environment, as this alternative form of producing energy gives off absolutely zero emissions into the atmosphere and is merely utilizing one of the most naturally occurring of all things as its driver. Solar collection cells are becoming slowly but surely ever more practical for placing upon the rooftops of people’s homes, and they are not a difficult system to use for heating one’s home, creating hot water, or producing electricity. In the case of using the photovoltaic cells for hot water generation, the system works by having the water encased in the cells, where it is heated and then sent through your pipes.

Photovoltaic cells are becoming increasingly better at collecting sufficient radiation from the sun even on overcast or stormy days. One company in particular, Uni-Solar, has developed solar collection arrays for the home that work well on inclement days, by way of a technologically more advanced system that stores more energy at one time during sunlit days than previous or other arrays.

There is actually otherr home solar power kits available for use called the PV System. The PV System is connected to the nearest electrical grid; whenever there is an excess of solar energy being collected at a particular home, it is transferred to the grid for shared use and as a means of lowering the grid’s dependence on the hydroelectrically-driven electricity production. Being connected to the PV System can keep your costs down as compared to full-fledged solar energy, while at once reducing pollution and taking pressure off the grid system. Some areas are designing centralized solar collection arrays for small towns or suburban communities.

Some big-name corporations have made it clear that they are also getting into the act of using solar power (a further indication that solar generated energy is becoming an economically viable alternative energy source). Google is putting in a  1.6 megawatt solar power generation plant on the roof of its corporate headquarters, while Wal Mart wants to put in an enormous 100 megawatt system of its own.

Nations such as Japan, Germany, the United States, and Switzerland have been furthering the cause of solar energy production by providing government subsidies or by giving tax breaks to companies and individuals who agree to utilize solar power for generating their heat or electrical power. As technology advances and a greater storage of solar collection materials is made available, more and more private investors will see the value of investing in this “green” technology and further its implementation much more.

Develop Telepathy - Telepathy is the direct exchange of thoughts, feelings and emotions between the minds of two people. This is a method of communication which uses nothing but the power of the mind to convey a message.

All of us have latent telepathic abilities. This is something which most of us cannot use consciously, however; like any other skill, telepathy must be practiced. There are times when we use telepathy without even realizing it; but what of you could Develop telepathy to the point where you could use it at will?

People tend to be skeptical about telepathy. It’s hard to blame them; since telepathy isn’t taught to us, you don’t see everyone going around using this ability. Regardless, you have used this ability. Think of an instance where you were in a terrific mood and then spoke with a friend who was down in the dumps. Even if you only spoke with them for a short time, you may have found yourself also feeling glum afterwards, sharing the same emotions as your friend.

Was it what they said? Not exactly – at least, it wasn’t their words that made you feel this way. This was in fact due to telepathy; your mind picked up on the emotions which they were transmitting.

Scientific studies have shown that by accessing the sub-conscious centre of your mind and learning to focus your thoughts and feelings toward a specific person, it is possible to re-awaken the dormant telepathic abilities.

As with any other form of communication, we are taught as children by our elders. Our parents teach us speech and body language, so that we mimic the same language and even the same accents. This is because we all have the same ability to learn to communicate, but we only communicate in the ways in which we were taught.

The only thing this means is that you haven’t yet learned how to tap into this ability.

Here are some methods which can help you to develop your inherent telepathic abilities.

‘Mental-Muscle’ training

Just like you weren’t born knowing how to direct your vocal chords and mouth to speak a particular language, the ‘muscles’ responsible for telepathy need to be trained.

It is easiest to access the part of your brain which controls telepathic function when you are in a trance state. You can reach this state of deep relaxation by using relaxation techniques including meditation.

Learn to relax your mind so that you can reach your trance state easily. When you can reach this point, you’ve begun to train your mind to be controlled at will.

Focus

Maintaining your focus while in a trance state does not come naturally, so you will need to spend some time practicing this. What you need to do is to focus on the person who you want to establish a telepathic connection to, even as you approach a state of deep relaxation.

Keep visualizing this person as you enter your trance. Project positive thoughts toward them and visualize these signals moving from you to them. Visualize this person receiving your thoughts; do this for a few minutes to make sure that they receive them.

Then, stop focusing and break the telepathic link. They will feel this line of communication being severed and try to reestablish contact between your minds.

Keep practicing this technique; once you start telepathy training with a partner, this practice should have prepared you well for sending and receiving telepathic communications.

Partner Practice

Choose one person to be the receiver and one to be the sender. The sender should choose simple items to project. Choose items with clear, bright colors that are easily recognizable.

The receiver should write down all telepathic messages that they receive during the exercise.

Afterwards, compare notes and take a look at how well you did in the exercise. It will take some time to sharpen your telepathic abilities, so don’t get discouraged. Practice is the only way to develop telepathy, but you will become better at it with time.

So you want to be a lucid dreamer. Well that’s a good start, at least you know what you want to do; but how exactly do you go about it?

You also need to think about exactly why you want to become a lucid dreamer. What are the benefits of lucid dreaming? To help us find the benefits, let us first look at ‘normal’ sleep.

When you go to sleep, you get into bed, close your eyes for a certain length of time, and either dream or just see black for a few hours and then wake up! It isn’t very interesting now is it?

This kind of sleep allows us to get the rest we need to go about our activities the following day. Have you ever wondered, though, what it would be like if you could actually take control of your dreams and dictate their events?

What if rather than being an active observer, you can be the one who can lead your dream to be whatever you want, rather than your dream leading you? This is what a lucid dreamer is; someone who is in total control of their dreams; able to explore new worlds that are not bound to the physical, societal and time-space laws of the real world.

This sounds great, but how can you become a lucid dreamer? There are two ways to reach this state – one is by having a DLID, or dream initiated lucid dream. These are instances where the dreamer has taught themselves to recognize that they are having a dream and start to assert control over the direction of their dream.

The second way is having a wake-initiated lucid dream (WILD); where the dreamer goes from being awake, to being asleep with no change in consciousness. In other words, the dreamer enters their dream as if it were a door, rather than just “waking up” in a dream.

So what are the actual methods used to induce these two types of lucid dream experiences?

Dream Recall

If you’d like to lucid dream, perhaps one of the most successful way of doing so is known as dream recall. Dream recall is simply the ability to remember one’s dreams. By remembering your dreams, you are able to recognize them when you are sleeping, because most likely, you will have the same dream, or at least aspects of it, more than once.

The way to practise dream recall is by keeping a dream journal. The dream journal is meant as a tool to write down anything you can remember about your dream, in order to recall it for the future. This should be done right after waking up; otherwise dreams will become harder to remember.

Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams (MILD)

Developed by renowned lucid dream researcher Dr. Stephen LaBerge, this technique works by telling yourself to recognize a certain object or situation when you see it in your dreams. When you see this object, it triggers the realization that you are in a dreaming, allowing you to begin lucid dreaming.

Wake-Back-to-Bed (WBTB)

This technique is fairly simple. You set your alarm for just a few hours after you go to bed. When you wake, don’t just go back to sleep. Instead, stay awake for about an hour, then return to sleep.

According to Stephen LaBerge, there is a 60% success rate of this technique. The reason why is that you would have woken up during the process of sleep, meaning that your mind is not fully aware of this, and are still in the middle of REM cycle. So basically, it’s like going to your mind and telling it that you want to lucid dream.

Cycle Adjustment Technique

This method was created by Daniel Love in this technique you set an alarm to awaken you 90 minutes before you normally would awaken. This is done for approximately a week. After a week, you begin to alternate between normal wake up and early. On the normal waking days, the body will come alert earlier thereby increasing the chance of lucidity.

Wake-initiation of Lucid Dreams (WILD)

As described earlier wake initiated lucid dreams are matter of keeping your mind conscious as you fall asleep. This may be the most fun way to achieve lucid dream state.Imagine if you will that, your dreams are like a movie you are planning to watch. You get comfortable, turn on the television set, (sleep), first you have a dark screen (eyes closed) and now it is a matter of getting through the previews to the movie.

There are any number of ways to keep your mind alert, count, controlled breathing techniques or concentrated relaxation are all great ways to keep the mind alert. It is a bit like hypnotizing your self. This works best if you are not exhausted, try it during an afternoon nap.

Technology has moved on in recent years, and there are various devices like dreaming masks and other scientific appliances which contain such things as strobe lights to induce lucid dreams.

Possibly the best method of all is to play binaural sound frequencies on headphones.

These work by synchronizing the two hemispheres of the brain and have the effect of almost instantaneously changing your brainwaves to the REM frequency needed for a lucid dream to occur.

Combined with the self hypnosis sessions and affirmations to prepare your subconscious mind beforehand, becoming a lucid dreamer is something that everyone can now experience!

You have seen them on your favorite Bones or CSI TV show. They are the criminalists who study bones collected from a crime scene. They are the forensic anthropologists. Have you ever wondered what a forensic anthropologist does and what the educational requirements are to become one?

If you have a knack for the biological sciences, anthropology, archaeology, and history, then the field of forensic anthropology may be the career choice for you. Your job description requires that you help the medical examiner or coroner with the collection and identification of human remains. You must know how to determine biological profiles such as age, sex, race, height, etc. of skeletal remains. You must determine the cause of trauma to the skeleton. You may have to visit the burial site, help dig it up, and scrutinize soft tissue or skeletal remains with the intent of identifying the dead person and helping to ascertain the approximate time and cause of death.

It takes a great deal of education to prepare to become a forensic anthropologist. You need a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, anatomy, physiology, or anthropology, and a graduate-level degree in anthropology or human biology. Then you need a PhD and a minimum of three years of experience in forensic anthropology before applying to the board to become board certified.

It is possible to work in this particular field with fewer educational requirements. However, many employers in forensics labs will give more weight to your application if you have a doctorate degree. Upon getting a job as a forensic anthropologist, you will be working at universities and operate as a consultant to medical examiners and the courts.

Experts such as forensic anthropologists use their varied educational background to help solve a crime. Their efforts help bring an offender to justice and bring closure to the families of the victims.

The problem with dry skin is that it can cause discomfort, can even be maddening and unsightly. When the skin is dry, it might feel tight and painful; or it might even look dull, red, chapped or flaky. Skin itchiness is the worst thing it can contribute. The sort of overwhelming itchiness can make you feel like you are infested with fleas which can keep you disturbingly awake at night and miserably raking your skin with a back scratcher. Then, it’s time to Initiate some skin basics, a normal and healthy skin is coated in a thin layer of natural lipids or fatty substances. They keep the skin moist and leaves the skin soft and supple.

Xerosis is the medical term for dry skin. This condition can be caused by rather environmental factors or certain behaviors and something that you do. Somehow, the other cause might be internal; a health condition or genetic predisposition is making your skin dry out.

While patches of dry, itchy skin can appear anywhere, it can commonly appear on the arms, hands, lower legs, and abdomen, the mere fact that dry skin is often felt more that seen. To some individuals it can be noticeable and can be the source of embarrassment. Dry skin is a special concern, since the flakes of skin can look gray, or ashy, leading to a more demand of dry skin treatments.

If dry skin is left untreated, it can sometimes lead to dermatitis which is an inflammation of the skin — swelling and skin infection. But the good news brings that dry skin cause are most likely to be external. The problem can be solved with careful dry skin care.

Brushing does not often clean debris from between teeth. But plaque and food particles that stick between the teeth usually can be removed with dental floss. A generous length of floss, about 18 inches, is needed to do an effective job. The ends can be wrapped several times around the first joint of the middle finger of each hand. Using the thumbs or index fingers, the floss is inserted between the teeth with a gentle, sawing, back-and-forth motion. Then it is slid gently around the part of the tooth in the space at the gumline and gently pulled out; snapping the floss in and out may irritate the gums and may cause bleeding gums. After brushing and flossing, the mouth should be rinsed with water. A mouthwash is also necessary as it leaves the mouth clean and feeling fresh.

The dentist may recommend the use of oral irrigating device as part of dental home care. These units produce a pulsating stream of water that flushes food debris from between teeth. They are particularly useful for patients wearing orthodontic braces or for those who have had receding gums, creating larger spaces between teeth. Removing bacterial plaque on teeth prevents the onset of dental problems and gum disease.
